KHUNJERAB PASS
Khunjerab Pass is a mountain pass in the Karakoram range, connecting Pakistan and China at the highest paved border crossing globally. It is near Khunjerab National Park known for its snow leopards.
Located 270km from Gilgit, the pass is the highest point on the Karakoram Highway and houses the world’s highest ATM. It is advisable to travel with your own vehicle as the pass is often snow covered from December to April, leading to traffic closures.
Khunjarab Pass
The long, relatively flat pass is often snow-covered during the winter season and as a consequence is generally closed for heavy vehicles from November 30 to May 1 and for all vehicles from December 30 to April 1.
